The D-DAY Night Show on Saturday 30th October couldn’t have gone better even if we tried, with the different clubs in attendance from as far as Northampton.
The show was put on for novice fighters to gain experience and to be the centre of attention as they walked out to music and the applause from the crowd.
The show started on time with Watford’s Lil’ Dragons, fighting each other in a round robin, which means all three of them would fight each other and the one with the most points would be the winner. Max Richards, Dylan Hayle and Dominic Glater put on a fine display of semi contact with Dominic, winning all his fights and was crowned the champion.
Four youngsters from Slough and Northampton stole the hearts of many with their mature kickboxing skills for kids as young as they were; Barney Doherty (Slough Cobras) lost to Kray Stewart (Northampton Scorpions) in a very exciting bout. Also from Slough, Adam Azim, won his fight after extra time against Nicholas Fleming, from Northampton.
Quite a lot of adults from Watford were fighting for the first time and did themselves proud. Yannick Adhallah, was in a very tough semi contact contest against Aiden Cruikshank from High Wycombe, with Yannick, winning by two points. Bradley Bowen, one of our adults was putting on a great display and looked as if he couldn’t put a foot wrong until he ran out of stamina and his opponent, Lee Perers, from Reading took advantage of the situation to go on to win. Christopher (Lex) our only adult to compete in semi contact on the night was also victorious against Steve Puddyfoot, from Watford Lau Gar.
Young Antony Kavanagh,(Watford Freestyle) has only been sparring for a couple of weeks only knew the night before that there would be a fight for him also was against a reading fighter (Rio Marshall) in a very close semi contact fight, with Antony, scoring the winning point just before time was called.
