Sunday 18th July 2010
Neville Wray, put on a very good tournament on Sunday, it was very busy with a good attendance with competitors from over seas.
Patrick Hogan, had a very good day picking up a bronze medal which he was not happy about but if he was to watch his fight back I think he would be very happy, he lost to the talented Ryan the Rhino Marlow by only one point.
Shannon Ryan, was feeling a little under the weather and had to use her years of experience to get her through the rounds to grab the World cup title in both light and semi contact.
It was really nice to see two of her school teachers come down to give her some support.
Mark Williams and Peter Bocancea, had a lot to grin about, Mark with his relentless style proved a little to much for his opponents, managed to secure a place in the final with Ed Lofts, student from East Sussex, it was a very close fight with Mark winning on a split decision.
Peter, got off to a very slow start and was thrown a life line, when the judges came up with a draw, they both had to fight an extra 30 seconds, Peter only pulled his socks half way up and just scraped a decision from the judges. After a strong talking to Pete went on to win with a very good display in the final.
